Theory Test Centres are situated throughout the UK. The most local to the Congleton area are:
- Stoke on Trent – ST1 2QE
- Stockport – SK4 1LW
- Manchester – M1 2HY
The test features 2 parts, theory questions and then hazard perception test. Both of these must be passed at the same time.
The test centre staff will seat you in front of a touch screen enabled computer. You will be asked to answer 50 multiple choice questions. The maximum time allowed to complete this part of the test is 57 minutes and you need to score 43 correct questions to achieve a pass. If you are unsure of the answer to any questions you are able to attach a flag to the selected questions, this will then allow you revisit the questions at the end of the test to answer or double check the previous answer.
There will be a short break after the theory questions and then you will then be shown 14 video clips of differing day to day driving situations. The maximum mark available is 75 and the pass mark for this section is 44. This section of the test is designed to assess your ability to spot developing hazards and the sliding scale point scoring reflects how quickly they are identified.
